The owners' suite has its own private hallway off the living room and features a generously sized walk-in closet and private bathroom. The 3-bedroom house is very popular but if you’re building (which would explain why you’re looking for house plans) it seems to me that having an extra bedroom is well worth the cost. Maybe you have guests come over… it’s always nice to have that fourth bedroom.
It really all boils down to personal preference, lot size and cost to build, all of which should be taken into consideration when deciding on the basic layout of your new home. Check out our featured collection of amazing 3-bedroom ranch-style house plans below. Spacious Ranch House Plan
While it is true that earlier ranch plans had long hallways dividing the bedrooms from the living areas, that is no longer true for today's designs. We work hard to keep hallways to a minimum by either splitting the bedrooms from the master, or designing the house with the bedrooms to one side instead of along a hallway to the back of the home. The most obvious advantage is having all rooms that are located on one level instead of two.
In fact, many of the ceilings of our great rooms have taller than normal ceilings. Imagine walking into a home where directly ahead of you is a wall of windows that stream tons of natural light into the kitchen and living areas – that's what our plans are designed to do. And chances are that your best view is out the back of your ranch home, so we use every design opportunity to make the best of that view from various angles within the home.
Ranch Style House Plans & Designs with Open Floor Plan
There are many benefits to choosing three-bedroom ranch-style or single story house plans. For one, these types of homes are easier to maintain and clean than multi-story homes. They also tend to be more energy efficient, since there is less space to heat or cool. In addition, ranch-style or single story homes typically have a more open floor plan, which can make them feel more spacious and inviting. And finally, these homes often boast more curb appeal than their two-story counterparts (of course this is totally subjective… I actually prefer two story houses).
However, it may also have bright-colored walls and large windows that allow plenty of sunlight into it. If you want to purchase this plan in reverse, please select "readable reverse" or "mirror reverse" under Options above.
Unless you specifically like and ask for long hallways, we will always try to design a ranch home to make full use of every inch of square footage. That's the beauty of the ranch home style – it can be adapted to virtually any style imaginable. As you browse our portfolio, you'll notice that every one of our home design styles is represented in many different square footages. When we design our house plans, we focus on the actual floor plan before adding a style to the exterior.
Most concrete block homes have 2 x 4 or 2 x 6 exterior walls on the 2nd story. Enter from the double garage to find built-in cubbies and a desk, along with a powder bath next to the laundry room. The great room features a fireplace and seamlessly connects with the eat-in kitchen. The kitchen island includes an eating bar, and a walk-in pantry in the nearby mudroom maximizes storage space.

I don’t necessarily agree with that since I believe you could do up a rancher in other styles, but rustic is probably one of the most popular. Rustic ranch house plans combine country home features with all the modern amenities of a suburban one. While it is true that earlier ranch house plans had long hallways dividing the bedrooms from the living areas, that is no longer true for today's designs. We work really hard to keep hallways to a minimum by either splitting the bedrooms from the master, or designing the house with the bedrooms to one side instead of along a hallway to the back of the home.
